All vehicle rentals in Kirkintilloch are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:

A valid full driving license is required, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Kirkintilloch office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, securely processed through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, acknowledging normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will apply if returned with less fuel. Late returns could result in further charges, so please contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with a corresponding administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All car rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial exposure. Review these choices thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for further coverage. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains with you, regardless of any insurance provisions.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Prohibited activities include the use of the vehicle for illegal purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any dangerous driving is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Operating the vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unacceptable. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes it was not intended for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and driving beyond agreed geographical boundaries without authorization are violations of our terms.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Scottish law, Car Hire Kirkintilloch will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or special damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
